SPECIALTY FAMILY
PHA
SpecialtyBio-based. Compostable by nature, marine-tested.

WHY USE PHA
PLA only breaks down in a commercial composter. PHA biodegrades in soil and sea: 90%+ in 56 days of seawater, ASTM D6691. For prototypes, models and parts that are meant to return.
Environmentally-focused applications where the part needs to biodegrade in a natural environment.
PRINTING REFERENCE
How to Print PHA
The same STANDARD PRINT CO. reference values appear in the TDS download. They are starting points, not batch test results or a calibrated machine profile.
| Nozzle Temperature | 205-220°C |
|---|---|
| Bed Temperature | 40-60°C |
| Fan Speed | 0-80% |
| Print Speed | < 100 mm/s |
| Enclosure | Optional |
| Recovery drying after exposure | 50°C, 6h |
Validate with a calibration print and consult the printer, nozzle and build-surface guidance. For recovery drying, also check spool and dryer temperature limits.
Our filament is ready to print from an intact, sealed bag; no initial drying is needed. Reseal it in the foil bag with maintained desiccant between prints. Storage does not remove absorbed moisture.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common Questions About PHA
What is PHA best used for?
Environmentally-focused applications where the part needs to biodegrade in a natural environment.
Do I need an enclosed printer for PHA?
An enclosure is optional in the PHA reference sheet. Choose a setup suited to the part, printer and ventilation requirements.
Does PHA need drying before printing?
STANDARD PRINT CO. filament is ready to print from an intact, sealed bag; no initial drying is needed. Reseal it in the foil bag with maintained desiccant between prints. After moisture exposure, assess recovery drying separately. Storage does not remove absorbed moisture; moisture-sensitive materials may need protected feeding while printing.
What nozzle temperature should I use for PHA?
The PHA reference sheet lists 205-220°C. Use a suitable printer profile, check nozzle and build-surface compatibility, and calibrate for the part.
