Your New Printer — Getting Started Right

Congratulations on the new machine. Spending an hour on these eight steps now will save you days of frustration later — and put you on the path to predictable, repeatable prints.

    01 / Checklist

Eight steps before your first real print

    1. STEP 01

      Unbox & inspect

Open the carton carefully and check for any shipping damage. Verify contents against the packing slip before discarding packaging — keep it for the warranty period in case of return.

    2. STEP 02

      Choose your location

A stable, level surface with good ventilation. Keep ambient temperature between 18–28°C. Avoid direct sunlight, drafts, and high-traffic areas where the printer could be knocked.

    3. STEP 03

      Level & calibrate the bed

Follow your printer's specific bed-levelling routine before the first print. Skipping this is the single most common cause of first-print failures.

    4. STEP 04

      Load your first filament

Start with PLA. It's forgiving, prints at moderate temperatures, and exposes calibration issues quickly. Save the engineering polymers for once you trust the machine.

      Shop PLA
    5. STEP 05

      Run the test print

Use the printer's built-in test file. Don't skip it. The test print confirms the machine has survived transit, axes are square, and the first-layer settings are correct.

    6. STEP 06

      Install slicer software

Most printers ship with a recommended slicer (Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer). Install it, import the manufacturer's profile, and update to the latest version.

    7. STEP 07

      Print your first real model

Recommended: a Benchy or a 20mm calibration cube. Check for layer adhesion, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish. These tell you whether further tuning is needed.

    8. STEP 08

      Note your service interval

Your 12-Month Warranty needs no registration: we record the serial number at dispatch. Calibration drifts with use, so plan a service every 12 months or 1,000 print hours, whichever comes first.

    02 / First-week issues

    If something doesn't print right

    Bed adhesion failure

First layer lifts or won't stick. Re-level, clean the bed with IPA, and verify Z-offset.

    Stringing between moves

Wispy filament between print sections. Dry your filament and tune retraction settings.

    Under-extrusion

Gaps, weak walls, or missing layers. Check filament path for binding and verify nozzle temperature.

    Filament tangle

Spool jams mid-print. Always anchor the free end in the spool's notch when not loaded.
